The first edition of the work, which was published in 2000 under the title “Izmir Men of Thought and Art (1850-1950)”, met with the readers with its revised and expanded second edition after 25 years.
This valuable work written by Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Huyugüzel brings together the biographies of many different personalities such as poets, writers, journalists and scientists who left their mark in the world of thought and art in Izmir between 1850 and 1950.
The number of people whose biographies are included in the book, whose content has been enriched and updated through archive searches and academic studies since the first edition, has reached 271 with the addition of 11 new names. In addition, in this edition, women writers were also included in the scope of the book and the title of the book was changed to ’İzmir Intellectual and Artistic People (1850-1950)“ accordingly.
